Thanks to some old programs, some users are still using Windows XP even after the release of Windows 7. So here is a tutorial for setting up your pop e-mail in Outlook Express.

Thanks to some old programs, some users are still using Windows XP even after the release of Windows 7. So here is a tutorial for setting up your pop e-mail in Outlook Express.

Open Outlook Express…

If this is the first time you ran OE, this wizard should pop up

If this is the first time you ran OE, this wizard should pop up. If he did, skip the next step.

In case the wizard didn't pop up (probably he was sleeping) You can wake him up from Tools > Accounts > Add > Mail

Enter your name here as you want those who receive your email to see it

Type in your email address and click next

Enter the names of your POP & SMTP Mail Servers

Enter the names of your POP3 & SMTP Servers

In this case both of them are the same – mail.eha-health.org, for some other account the POP3 & SMTP servers could be different. Click Next

Enter your full email address and password here

Enter your full email address and password here

In some cases, such as in setting up an email address given to you by your ISP, you may need to enter only the part of your email address -the part before the @ sign

You can choose whether you want to let OE remember your password by checking the check  box below the password field. I’m lazy, so I always check it. Click Next & Finish

Next Click on Tools > Accounts, and click on the properties for your account

Next Click on Tools > Accounts, select the account you just created, and click the properties button.

Click on the servers tab and check the box my server requires authentication. Next Click on settings next to the check box.

Click on the servers tab and check the box my server requires authentication. Next Click on the settings button next to the check box.

This is how it should look! If it doesn't, do it!

This is how it should look! Click OK twice.

Thats it dude! Your email is setup, you can now send a test email full of gibberish to someone you don’t like -you can always claim that you were testing your new account! ;-P

Ah! One final thing… you know how safe Windows is, so if you opened Outlook Express for the first time (or you discovered later on that you cant open any attachments), you need to click on Tools > Options and click the security Tab. Here you will find that Microsoft has so helpfully checked the Do not allow attachments to be saved  or opened that could potentially be a virus. Uncheck this please if you intend to open any attachment at all, Click OK and restart Outlook Express (Thankfully for once you don’t have to restart Windows).

sssss

OE Puts you in the restricted zone by default blocking most if not all of your attachments...
